Underfloor heating manifold with nine loops, flow meters and a circulation pump

Three ways to a warm floor

Flow meters on a hydronic underfloor heating manifold

Hydronic underfloor heating

Pipes in the screed connected to a heat pump, boiler or heat exchanger. The most economical way to heat a whole house with low temperature water.

Best for: new builds, full renovations, houses with a heat pump.

Bathroom with tiles heated by an electric heating mat

Electric underfloor heating

Heating mats and cables under tiles or floating floors. No pipes, no screed, done in a day.

Best for: bathrooms, flats, cottages, single rooms.

Power trowel smoothing a fresh screed

Low build-up renovations

Dry systems, milled grooves in the existing screed or thin-layer boards. Underfloor heating even where height or load is limited.

Best for: older houses, apartment buildings, timber frames, lofts.

Questions we get asked

Hydronic or electric underfloor heating?

Hydronic (water) suits whole-house heating, especially with a heat pump. Electric mats are quick to install and cheap to buy, ideal for bathrooms, single rooms and renovations where you do not want to touch the heating pipes.

How much floor height does it need?

A wet screed system typically adds several centimetres above the insulation. Dry and milled systems for renovations fit into a few centimetres, electric mats add millimetres.

Can it be combined with a heat pump?

It is the ideal pair. Underfloor heating works with low water temperatures, exactly where a heat pump is most efficient.

My existing system heats poorly. Do you fix it?

Yes. Most often the manifold is unbalanced or clogged, or there is air in the loops. We flush, bleed and balance without breaking the floor.
